Dear colleagues,

After the last year’s successful Seventh International Scientific Conference of the Balkan Association of Roman law and Roman legal tradition „Societas pro Iure Romano“ in Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 2023 the host will be the Faculty of Law at the University of Rijeka- one of the most prestigious Croatian universities, whose Faculty of Law has a broad program of education for students from the Balkan countries and all over Europe, as well as scientific research. We invite Balkan Romanists, as well as other friends of the Association, to participate and contribute to the scientific debate on FEMINAE – a universal theme that has both Roman dimensions and many modern projections. We will be honored if you accept the invitation and confirm your participation in the conference that will be held on October 5-7, 2023 in Cres, an Adriatic island in Croatia. It is one of the northern islands in the Kvarner Gulf and can be reached via ferry from Rijeka. This is the land inhabited by the Illyrians at the time of the Roman Empire. The beautiful nature and tranquility of this remarkable corner of Croatia will create a unique atmosphere for our conference.
In the following period, you will get more information on the program of the conference, as well as on your stay. Since the island is a preferred destination for tourists, it is necessary to confirm your participation by April 30, 2023 at the latest, in order to make a reservation for the hotel Kimen where the conference will be held. We are sending you the preliminary offer with prices for the stay in the attachment to this invitation, which are extremely preferential.

The arrival can be on October 4th and departure on October 8th, 2023, organized or individual. Please confirm your participation with the applicated form by April 30, 2023 at ius.romanum@abv.bg. Because the term we can reserve the entire hotel for our conference is very soon, you can complete and send your requests for the topic of your conference participation later – until June 30, 2023. The deadline for submitting the articles is November 1st, 2023.

1. The price of half board per room is (per day):
– a double room with a view of the park is 70 Euro (Type A1)
– double room with sea view is 80 Euro (Type A2)

– a double room with a view of the park (one person) is 56 Euro (Type A3)
– a double room with a sea view (one person) is 66 Euro (Type A4)

2. The price of full board per room is (per day):
– a double room with a view of the park is 100 Euro (Type B1)
– a double room with a sea view is 110 Euro (Type B2)

– a double room with a view of the park (one person) is 71 Euro (Type B3)

The drinks with lunch and dinner are not included in all listed prices.
