IUS & NATURA

Issue II / 2024

The theme of the Ninth International Conference of Societas pro iure romano, Societas pro iure romano is related to the study IUS ROMANUMof a very large and at the same time very important topic - IUS ET NATURA. From a historical perspective, the development of legal concepts of nature takes us back to the Greek and Roman worlds. Nature is present in various aspects of legal regulation, from the consideration of the particularities of the environment and its resources to the protection of relations spontaneously arising and of universal importance in human society. Therefore, the thematic discussions during the conference, and the structuring of the contents of this issue, posed a serious challenge to the organizers and editors of the journal. The subdivision into Roman and modern law appears to be only provisional and in view of the dominant focus of the respective studies and their conclusions. A starting position is also included in all the articles, which runs through the different periods in the development of Roman law, or through the centuries in feudal and modern law.

We hope that with this significant variety of topics, linking the law of antiquity with nature in all its aspects, we are initiating a discussion that has its dimensions in our modernity. The tracing of continuity in normative terms and the stable models established by Roman iusrisprudentes iusrisprudentes and emperors in relation to nature and its natural regularities may provide new insights into solving some of today's environmental problems.
