This fresco from Pompeii, housed in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples, Italy, is often presented with a title related to Roman intellectuals, Roman students, etc. The truth is more prosaic - it is an image of the baker Terentius Neo and his wife. depicted with writing utensils - stylus, wax tablet and papyrus scroll. The spirited faces of the two young Romans give rise to much reflection, but also to scientific research - on what occasion they are depicted in this way, what was the spiritual life in Pompeii, what is the distribution of written acts, incl. and legal in the Roman Empire, etc. - all topics that may intrigue modern young people, and why not - and their discussion in the circle of Roman law.
