On May 4, 2017, a unique educational event was held in 272 auditoriums of Sofia University. At the initiative of the Circle of Roman Law at the Faculty of Law of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski ”a Roman educational process was organized. First- and second- and third-year students presented to their fellow students and many guests a case, compiled based on information from Avel Helium and opinions of Roman lawyers.
The preparation for the trial was carried out extremely thoroughly and as close as possible to the authentic Roman reality with the help of the assistants in Roman law Stoyan Ivanov and Tihomir Rachev. The students themselves immersed themselves in their procedural functions with great enthusiasm, gave real oratory speeches and deserved the loud applause of the audience. The academic side of the process was strengthened by the clarifications made in the introduction and between the different procedural phases by Prof. Malina Novkirishka - a lecturer in Roman private and Roman public law. SIBI Publishing House had provided thematic awards for all participants in the process - the book by Prof. Maria Kostova "Law in the Poetry of Horace" and "Rhetoric" by Branislav Nusic.
The educational court process is a new form of presentation of the studied subject to the students, related to the practical aspects of the legal profession. As Prof. Novkirishka pointed out at the end, in this way the freshmen at the beginning of their studies get an idea of the protection of rights, procedural behavior and ethics, have the opportunity, albeit in a more attractive, but also in a simpler form, to touch to the essence of his future profession. Undoubtedly, the detailed knowledge of the main institutes of Roman public and private law, which were related to the subject of the process, and which both participants and audience continued to discuss in the coming days during seminars, lectures and online forums.
